This morning was the first time I felt like I needed to get the winter gear out but in my case that just means gloves and scarf.
I have been debating whether to either make or buy a hat. I can't remember the last time I wore one but pretty hats seem to be all the rage right now. Whether they are the right thing for a 30 something mum of 4 is something I need to decide. I need to ask myself - am I a hat person? Will it just look like something plonked on my head that looks ridiculous? Are hats just for the trendy people among us which I am not?
So many different types but one thing is for sure I will never ever be seen in a baseball cap. I hate them despite being married to somebody who lives in his when outside.
Having done a quickie lookie on Etsy I have found one or two I kind of like
or maybe I could go all out for this pink number
or even this for the doggies

I adore that vanilla hat, I want one!!
The cream on is understated and smart or casual...the next sreams 'what the hell ...I'm here' and the fluffy one is you trying to be a pink lion lol.
Are you a hat person ...well most hats do not suit me yet my DD can put anything on her head and look cool... so if you can wear them then you are and should. ..as for age well I dont think that matters, DD is in her mid+ thirties... It all hinges on whether you look and feel good in a hat. My advice is try a few on in a shop ...pretend you are not sure and make your own. xx
its definitely hat weather!! love the first one
x
Awww that doggie hat is adorable! And now I'm lusting after the cream colored one!
Go for it.I love the first two
oh wow...i need hat number two...maybe you should make them all!! :)
the flower one gets my vote!
Not that it will help your decisionmaking, but do have a look at What Not To Crochet for some ideas to avoid :)

If nothing else it's good for a laugh if you look back at the older posts.
Personally, I like the cream one too.
Love the first one, cant quite see anyone in the doggy one LOL! I bought a hat recently that is definitely and 20's throwback LOL
Not convinced by hats myself....and pleased to say haven't needed the gloves yet.
Well, if the dog version would fit, it might be fun... otherwise, if you're a "not-sure-about-hats" person, the cream one is elegant and smart. That shape of hat suits most people too. If you're brave about wearing colours, I love the second hat! The third is best left for toddlers and fancy-dress costumes!
I didn't wear hats for a long time, because I thought they didn't suit me etc, etc... Then I got a soft, grey fleece one, in a sort-of beanie style. I was amazed by how warm it kept me. And I don't mean just my head! You lose a lot of body heat through your head and my hat makes soooo much difference. I have three now...
I like a hat for dog walking type outdoorsyness. Recently at Greenwich market Iswear the knity hats with peaks stand was the busiest. I would have waited for a chance to browse if I hadn't been with DH.
I have a bit of a campaign against this 'hat person' thing. Not that long ago, we all would have been wearing hats, even into the 60s. Don't limit yourself, make yourself into a hat person. Find a hat you love and secretly think looks cute - don't worry about whether you can 'get away with it'. The secret is that it is the people who dare to do it that are the ones that get away with it! Go for it!
Definately getting like hat weather - go for it!!
Get that OTT pink one ... I love it ... in fact ... I want one!
Ha ha, I love that hat on the dog, how cute does he look...
