100 Happy Days - 34 to 36

Day 34 - crazy temperatures on bank holiday Monday.

Day 35 - my youngest has been pestering for his hair cutting into a quiff what feels like every minute of every day for the last few weeks. I finally took him yesterday. We went to a different barber shop to usual. This one was a Turkish barber and when he asked for a quiff the barber said did he mean a comb over which is popular right now and similar. Apparently so. He's chuffed to bits with it. Way too short at the back in my opinion but if he likes it and it's what he wants then I'm happy.

Day 36 - my eldest son pressed the button on the UCAS website today. We have spent a lot of time and travelled a lot of miles to get to this point of making the firm choice. 4 of his 5 offers all had the same entry criteria of AAB and the other had a very low requirement so insurance was a choice of one. The big decision came down to two. One was a short distance from home and the other a couple of hours. His choice, which I respect, was a couple of hours away. It was the one university that stood out above the others for everything. He is happy so I am happy. No photo for this one.

100 Happy Days - Day 30

So day 30 was a happy gobsmacked moment. My 18 year old son went to the shop and came back with a creme egg for me. I think I'm still in shock

100 Happy Days - 24 to 29

First of all fab news after photo 23 which was the interview my daughter was going for. She got the job and from September will be a fully fledged newly qualified geography teacher. So proud of her.

Day 24 - a knitting commission for a customer of our local wool shop.

Day 25 - an eye test for my youngest and new specs

Day 26 - a yummy freebie with the shopping delivery

Day 27 - we collected his new specs. Specsavers had an amazing offer on of free prescription sunglasses with kids glasses. Bearing in mind that kids glasses are free anyway this is a fantastic freebie. He's never been able to have sunglasses before because his prescription has always been big so has needed his glasses on all his waking hours. He's beyond excited for prescription sunnies. The husband thinks he looks like Chow from the hangover films. Not sure that's a good thing haha

Day 28 - a fun science workshop at our local high school. This one is making a bobsleigh to get an egg down a ramp safely and as quickly as possible. His name was top of the list when we left which pleased him no end.

Day 29 - a bit of dug land amongst the weed chaos at the allotment. I've started a new blog just for allotment stuff but more of that later.

100 Happy Days - Day 6

I woke up this morning to a beautiful frosty pattern on the bedroom window. Not something we saw very often during the winter so it was a pleasant surprise. There is something quite magical about frost.

100 Happy Days - Day 5

I got a bargain box full of gardening goodies from Suttons a week or so ago and these were in it so I've planted them today and am keeping my fingers crossed for germination.

100 Happy Days - Day 2

The daffodils started blooming at the allotment about 3 weeks ago. Nothing like a flower in a cheerful colour to brighten the mood.

I'm pretending those docks aren't there but I can see a major invasion of them this year. Along with the nettles and dandelions.

Speaking of dandelions - I got the bed dug this morning that I started yesterday and most of the bed where I had some peas last year. That one wasn't nearly as bad as the first thank goodness apart from a bramble that seems to have come from nowhere but I got the root up so hopefully it's gone now. It's a mess but this photo shows the two days and 1 hour total time digging. That next one which looks very grassy had root veg in which I left over winter. Next on the list once the second one is finished.

100 Happy Days - Day 1

This has been doing the rounds and basically it's to find a bit of happiness in each day and upload a photo of it. I did it a bit haphazardly on my Instagram page but I've decided to document it properly on here starting today.

So on day 1 my photo is of some digging I did at the allotment this morning. I am going to try and do a little bit each day rather than a lot at once and that way I won't burn out. Half an hour this morning was plenty. My back was really hurting and my body was telling me to stop. I did half a bed and filled a 70l empty compost bag with tap roots which were just starting to bud. When I stepped back to see what I'd done it wasn't much but it was an achievement and a start.
