E fortnight went a little bit like this:

Watching Eastenders

A fair amount of exercise

eating too much of the wrong foods

Enchiladas

and discovering this yummy cereal

I wasn't expecting to make a trip to the emergency department of the hospital last night and unfortunately my son is starting the F fortnight with a fractured fibula.

So what did you get up to for E. The linky thingy is below if you want to share. Personally I thought it was quite a difficult letter.

D

The D fortnight went a bit like this:

Lots of Mr Bean DVD watching

Our daughter was home from university for an extended visit

Liberal use of the Dettol spray to avoid the little ones' bug spreading

Son number 2 decorated a cake

I decluttered the bathroom which led to a disaster at the dump with a set of drawers. They had previously been used for toiletries etc but were broken so I swapped them for some my daughter no longer needed and took the broken ones to the dump. I left all the old stuff (out of date make up etc) in the drawers but somehow managed to get them out of the car the wrong way and they emptied themselves all over in front of the dumpster. Needless to say it was packed and nobody offered to help!

I tried to read Dickens and Dostoyevsky but found them incredibly boring. I did try them though which is the whole point of the journey through the alphabet.

Son number 1 had an unexpected trip to the dentist because his bridge fell out yet again.

I bought some daffodils.

I'm ashamed to say I bought my son a donner kebab. I hate them!

As always Daisy dog played a big part in family life

If you want to play along the link is below for you to add your details. I'd love to see what you did for D.

It's a C

Apologies if you have been playing along with the AtoZ of discovery through the alphabet.  I didn't get C up yesterday as planned so here it is.  If you want to share what you discovered with the letter C the link is at the bottom of this post.

Not a huge number of photos but here is what we did

I bought two bunches of cut flowers from the bargain bucket in Asda for 50p each

A big factor for the last week has been crunchy snow

I made some chocolate cakes (excuse the bun tin it is very old)

ate chips and curry sauce and drank coffee

took a picture of our chimney

did a fair bit of crafting (no pics)

my little man bought himself a monkey from the build a bear shop and called it cheeky chimp

we went into the city
that photo is so blurred but it was rush hour on the way back from a hospital appointment and I took it on the escalator.

and I got these books from the library

Call The Midwife - definitely recommended.

and

a camera book for dummies which I certainly am when it comes to tech speak about aperture, shutter priority so I'm hoping to learn something.

I think that is all for C and if you would like to share then the link is below. I'd love to see what you have been up to this fortnight.

Edited to add:
I found a recipe for African chicken stew which used chickpeas and little man loved them.

I started an alphabet cross stitch project which I'm planning on adding to as we get to each letter but I have only done a little bit of the border so far so it isn't worth photographing.

Give Me A B

That's the end of the B fortnight.

I won't say our B words were all good because:

I had back pain which is still ongoing

the car needed money spending on the brakes which left us broke

our eldest went back to uni

It wasn't all doom and gloom though:

I was delighted to see buds forming on lots of my climbers and even on my rose bush

bulbs are peeping their heads out to say hello

we ate

bangers and mash (sausages and mashed potatoes for those of you in other countries)

went to Burger King
baked a cheesecake

our library reopened after relocating and being closed for a few weeks so I was very pleased to get a new book to read.

but the best thing we did was have a birthday

there were lots of this type of blurred photo whilst presents were opened

What did you get up to during the B fortnight?  If you would like to share your adventure please add your link via the linky thingy below.  I'd love to see

Here is what we got up to:

A walk by the River Aire

Walked past the allotments

Several trips to Asda which I totally forgot to take a picture of!

I bought an amaryllis bulb

Made an apple pie

Ate sugared almonds

Drank Aero hot chocolate

Dealt with autistic tantrums

Leeds played Arsenal

Finished my Advent scarf

Took an aerial photo through the frosty window this morning.

A to Z of Discovery 2012 - The Beginning

Today is the very first day of 2012 and the beginning of our journey through the alphabet starting with A and working our way up to Z.  We will be giving each letter two weeks and will be enjoying/trying/reading/stuffing our faces with things beginning with that letter throughout that fortnight.

Here are a few lists of A to Zs to help you along the way

Food

Recipes

Music

Books

Kids Games and Activities

Plants

Animals

Yes I know it isn't in alphabetical order lol

You could also just get out a dictionary and find a random word for the letter in focus that particular fortnight.

However you choose to do it is totally up to you. I will link us up with a linky thingy the day that our first letter ends which in the first case will be Saturday 14th January.

Have fun discovering all those new (and old) things beginning with A.

A To Z Of Discovery 2012

A couple of years ago a group of friends did a challenge to discover the alphabet.  We gave each letter of the alphabet a fortnight and went on a voyage of discovery of new things. We found and tried new (and old favourites) things from each letter in turn over the year.  I only managed a few letters though so have decided this year I am going to do it again by myself.  If anybody would like to join me along the journey that would be fantastic. I intend to do a fortnightly post on here dedicated to the particular letter I am discovering eg on 15th January I will do a post for the letter A and have a linky thingy so if anybody wants to play along they can link up their own blog post and share what they have discovered.

I'm looking forward to trying different foods, recipes, places, books, etc etc etc. There are so many things to discover starting with each letter.  I know certain ones are going to be more difficult than others - X for example but I'm up for giving it a go.

There are probably hundreds of A to Z challenges starting this week but if you want to play along for however long you wish you are more than welcome.
