100 Happy Days - 31 to 33

Day 31 was going to be apple blossom buds until I noticed this little bit of wallpapering my 18 year old had done in his bedroom. A level maths and further maths revision. Made me smile. 

Day 32 - freshly dug land at the allotment. A very satisfying feeling. Needs some chicken manure pellets sprinkling on before the rain comes in the next few days and raking over. I think this will be my sweetcorn bed this year. 

Day 33 - the Easter bunny came. 4 each for my 4 kiddiwinks from ourselves/my brother and sister plus a huge box of choccies for them to share from my mum. I don't get the whole lavish gift thing at Easter. When the kids were little we maybe bought a DVD between them or they had new clothes to wear but I've seen pics on Facebook today of Christmasesque piles of presents all wrapped up. Explain the reason for Easter and give them a chocolate egg and/or an egg hunt. There's no need for the rest of it (in my tight fisted opinion lol).

100 Happy Days - Days 21 to 23

Day 21 is the start of a new baby blanket for the shop. I've gone for neutral pastel green, lemon and white.

Day 22 is my youngest's entry into the decorated egg competition at school. They started out as minions but ended up as aliens and best of all he won second prize so I'm chuffed to bits.  It also gave him a confidence boost which is never a bad thing.

Day 23 - I dropped my eldest child off at an interview this morning which came about as the result of her going to a previous interview at another school and they passed her details to this school.  It is hard for newly qualified teachers (which she will be in just a few weeks) to make an impact at an interview when there are experienced teachers also being interviewed which is what happened at the first interview but for them to be impressed enough to pass her details to another school is a positive step forward.

100 Happy Days - Days 15 to 20

Oops I've got behind with posting this. No surprise there then!

Day 15 was the first birthday my daughter has had away from home as it usually falls in uni holidays so it was strange. My happy day photo was pinched from her Instagram of some of her presents.

Day 16 was the first outdoor rugby session of the year. Muddy knees = a happy kid who has had a good time and therefore a happy mum.

Day 17 is quite simply kitty cuddles. 

Day 18 is planting parsnips and turnips at  the allotment. 

Day 19 - the first craft fair of the year. I do a regular venue once a month but there haven't been any since December so I'm happy to be back into it. 

Day 20 - sproutings overnight in a makeshift planter I sowed some perennial flower seeds. I'm over the moon they've germinated.

Day 12 is the tulips my daughter bought me for Mother's Day

Day 10 was felt flowers I made for a spring wreath. Craft fairs start again next weekend so I'm being a busy bee. 

Day 11 is the grape hyacinths and anemones making an appearance.

Here is what brought a smile to my face today albeit a curious smile. 

The composition make up of the yarn I'm working with as specified on the ball band. Whatever the 8.6% of 'the public fixed get damp again' is obviously didn't translate well into English.

100 Happy Days - Day 4

After months of visits to universities with my eldest son we did our final trip today before he decides his firm choice. His insurance choice has been in the bag almost from the get go but his firm choice has been a bit of an adventure. We've been to so many places that they all tend to blend into one after a while. His final 4 choices plus his insurance all offered an additional visit day once he'd been given an offer. Two of those four have now been discounted and he's now down to weighing up the pros and cons between his other two offered places of choice.

They are both 'red brick' universities, both want the same AAB from his A Levels, both are welcoming and have similar accommodation styles. The differences are that one is close enough to come home whenever he wants, so close that he doesn't have to live away from home (that's apparently not an option). Some of the university accommodation for first years is affordable but the majority is expensive in comparison to most places.  The other one is a couple of hours away from home but the accommodation is quite cheap in comparison to the first one. I've explained to him the expensive accommodation is only for the first year and after that a house share is cheaper and that I'm willing to take him shopping for food whenever necessary which I can't do if he's somewhere two hours from home but at the end of the day the decision is his and if he's two hours away then he's two hours away. The time for independence has arrived and it's scary. My firstborn is 45 mins away at her uni and that's bad enough.

What will be will be and it's the next stage of HIS life. I need to remember that.

So anyway on with the happy days. Today was the final trip and was an accommodation viewing day at the close to home university. This bunting was cheerful and therefore was my happy moment captured

Out for lunch with son #2 because he had an inset day off school. Wetherspoons for a mexican chicken burger. £5.99 including a drink so no complaints there
