Skywatch

There are major roadworks causing chaos across my usual route so I took an alternative earlier in the week and I'm really glad I did.  I wish I had the camera with me when I saw this sunset but my phone had to do.  I will definitely take the camera next time I am that way and try and get a better picture for Skywatch.

Recommended Reading

My reading for E was an easy choice once I got to the library. Elizabeth Elgin. This is an author who has written lots of fantastic books.  They are mainly about women in the second world war and make fantastic reading.  There is a series of books  all about a girl who is a servant for a family called the Suttons.  I read them several years ago and am now on the lookout on ebay to try and purchase the full set of the series and reread them.  I highly recommend this series.

She has also written several other novels and my current reading is Turn Left At The Daffodils. This is her last novel and from what I understand by reading the notes she actually died before she finished it so her family finished it for her.

A New Month

and it is one of my favourites.  March usually sees a change for the better in the weather, lighter nights, buds on trees and my absolute favourite - blossom trees are in bloom.

I've used a blossom tree picture as inspiration over on the shop challenge blog.  Couldn't resist really.

The first of the month brings with it a new mystery sock challenge.  To be honest with you I am getting a bit bored of knitting socks at the moment BUT I like the mystery challenges because it is a part of the pattern released each week and isn't too overwhelming.  Plus the local yarn shop is closing down and I found some 4ply yarn in a lovely green shade for only £2 which will be ideal for this lace and cable pattern.  Well that's what it looks like anyway from the first clue.

The other thing the first of the month brought was a new part of the My Little Heart SAL (sew along).  I was trying to guess what it would be yesterday and I was thinking maybe flowers and a lamb and we actually have a ladybird and some flowers which is very nice.  My guess for april is either a chick or bunny.

Anyway better go as it is 'fat club' this afternoon and I need to go and see how much weight I have put on.  I swear I don't know what is happening.  I have switched a lot of products to lower fat versions and have tried doing more exercise but nothing ever seems to change on the weight front.  Maybe it is the willpower to resist takeaways that is lacking.

New Additions To The Family BUT..........

.....there is a price to pay.

These two cuties arrived in the post yesterday at a cost of less than £4 for the pair including postage thanks to ebay.

Their purpose is to be friends to my youngest child but only when he has reached the top of these charts.


One is for mornings and the other for evenings.  If his angry little self can behave until school time then he moves up a place and the same from coming home from school to bedtime.  So far we have one morning moved up.  It might be a long slog to get there but I thought if he could actually see the reward at the end then he might have more incentive to work harder towards it.  He loves the PG Tips monkey on the adverts and eats Muller Rice in great abundance so I thought they would be ideal rewards. 

These charts have worked before with him so I am pretty hopeful.  They can be downloaded free from http://www.supernanny.com/.  They come in two halves and there is another sheet with the character and she does girls ones too.  I then got the two halves plus the characters laminated so it keeps it nice and clean.
